Sweet Summertime

Summer is almost over now and it's back to socks and sweatshirts. It's been a wonderful summer. I decided after last summer was so busy that this year I was going to work less and enjoy life more. Its been great! :)

Convertibles are a great touch to summer.

My garden might have gone up in weeds, but I've loved having my own produce! The sunflowers are a great distraction from the weeds. :)

Lots of family time was my favorite part of the summer. I managed to see Michael and Rhoda four times in two months! I think it spoiled me and now I'm going through Brandon withdrawal.

This is what happens after you leave your garden for a week.

Grandma time!

I've been planning a trip to Grandma's house for a very long time and as summer is starting to slow down, I decided I better just make it happen. So, I went down (she lives 3 hours south in Indiana) a week ago on Sunday afternoon and came back Wednesday evening.

Very narrow roads lined with very tall corn!

 Finally at Grandma's house!

We played lots and lots of Rummikub.

Winding the clock was Grandpa's evening job. Being there made me miss him.

Tommy and Sky kept us entertained.

Mondays project was to make Grandma's mothers recipe for date bars.

 We mixed...

patted, cut and packaged 6 pans of them!

The colorful jars lining Grandma's pantry have fascinated me ever since I was a child. I always have to peek in and see what's there. :)

Tuesday was our fun day! Grandpa and Grandma had a tradition of going to Trailhead park for their anniversary and walking some trails and getting a blizzard at Dairy Queen afterwards. So, since their anniversary would be this week, we decided to celebrate it together.

We went to one bridge, ate in the pavilion, went to another bridge and walked around a bit, then went and got blizzards. It was a lovely afternoon.

Blizzards!

The antique stores were another favorite! It's fun antique shopping with someone who remembers everything.

My purchase of the day. I fell in love with the bluebird china and bought the tea cup and saucer. I was delighted to find out that the design on mine is exactly like the design on Grandma's saucer!

Thus ends a wonderful visit with Grandma! I plan to do that again.
