Guatemala!

I'm in Guatemala now and loving it! We spend most of our time with the 1o babies. We help feed them 4 times a day and then they need changed and played with too. We are also cleaning, painting some cribs and filling in anywhere else they need us.

Chino is my little man. He is attaching himself to me quite thoroughly. It's going both ways actually.

Pablo, the one baby in the bunch.

Lucy

Emna. She has Downs and is such a little sunshine (at least when everything is going her way)!

Taking the babies to the dining room for snack.

I'm learning how to feed two babies at once, plus hold a newborn.

Yeah, I know I have lots of pictures of him, but isn't he cute?

Letting the babies play outside.

Yesterday we walked to town for ice cream cones. Great fun!

Snacks are a must when you have 6 1/2 hours between breakfast and lunch!

Mexico Part 5

Saturday we all went shopping in Tijuana. We spent most of our time at the fabric shop, then we stuffed tacos in our mouths as we street shopped for a little bit. I think it was the first time I've gone fabric shopping with a group of guys. :)

Buying some little donut-like things. They were really good!

Some of the guys bought sombreros.

The girls checking out each others fabric.

Playing games in the dining hall Saturday night

Sunday afternoon we headed for the border and spent the night in San Diego

Eating breakfast at Denny's Monday morning

Sunset as we were landing in Texas.

Mexico Part 4

Friday was my favorite day of the week! Lyn, Alex, Jo, Janetta and I all asked to be together and we had a blast! We went to the Mercy House which is a small orphanage run by a nun.

My cabin crew. We had to move to a different cabin for the week-end.

Janetta and I mixed concrete most of the day for some steps and a sidewalk that the guys poured.

Lyn and Alex helped us in the afternoon then.

Janetta

Jo helped a little but spent most of her time working in the house.
Showers felt really good that night! :)

The crew that made the steps.

We all wrote our names and put our hand prints on them but we smoothed it out again then.

Taking off the forms

The group that was at Hacienda stopped in in the afternoon so this is the Hacienda group, plus those of us that were at the Mercy House and the Mercy House children.

Mexico Part 3

Thursday I went to Hacienda, the biggest orphanage that we worked at down there. I spent most of the day helping with laundry and then I played with the children for the last hour or so.
