This past weekend Wes, Lyd and I went to North Carolina and met Michael and Rhoda, Micah and Merry, and Seth and Harmony for a weekend of camping!
Michael and Rhoda and Seth didn't get back there till 3 am Saturday morning. The rest of us left mid morning Friday to make sure we got the campsite we wanted.
To get to our campsite we had to walk along the river for about a mile, carrying everything we needed for the weekend.
Brandon had the life!
It was a little tricky part of the time.
Our campsite! The couples had tents spread out here and there.
Brandon and I enjoying some hammock time.
Brandon sits and watches Michael build the fire and proclaims "Good job Daddy"!
The hammocks were in high demand. :) I slept in one and decided that it beats sleeping in a tent all hollow! The stars and moon above you and no hard ground beneath you. It helped that there were no mosquitoes.
The little ham
Brandon spent lots of time by the water throwing rocks and proclaiming "Wow" after each one.
It was so fun to have two days with nothing to do but cook, swim, and just hang out together.
The guys occupied part of their time finding and cutting firewood.
Nothing like food cooked over a wood fire!
For supper Saturday evening, Michael and Rhoda make us fajitas with shrimp, steak and chicken! It was amazing!
Micah realized he didn't have anything except a machete to turn his pancakes Sunday morning so he promptly carved one out of the fire wood.
Polishing it
Micah also made a broom that Brandon had fun with.
Our table was usually a mess, but it was very useful!
The waterfalls added a nice background noise. They were actually loud enough it was hard to hear each other sometimes.
Packing up was a little sad. I wouldn't mind just living there for a few weeks!
A cold North Carolinian Cheerwine was just the thing after the hot hike back out!
On the way home I realized there were lots of little things that I didn't get pictures of.
Like, getting drinking water from the spring up on the hill, campfire coffee and washing dishes in the river. I do believe it was one of the most relaxing camping trips I've ever been on!
